Program Outline & Learning Experiences
Daily Meeting
-
Children begin with a large-group meeting that includes discussions, problem-solving challenges, and community-building activities. This shared time sets the tone for a focused and productive afternoon.
Multi-Step Art Projects
-
Students dive into multi-day art experiences inspired by techniques, materials, and artist studies. These projects require planning, persistence, and creativity, allowing children to explore advanced artistic processes at their own pace.
Project-Based Academics
-
Academic learning happens through meaningful, real-world projects that integrate reading, writing, geography, math, and science. These projects are intentionally designed to blend multiple subjects at once, giving children engaging, hands-on experiences that make learning purposeful, connected, and easy to apply in everyday life.
STEM Learning
-
Children explore science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on experiments, building challenges, design tasks, and real-world problem-solving. STEM invitations encourage critical thinking, innovation, and curiosity as children test ideas, create solutions, and engage in meaningful investigation.
Practical Life Skills
-
Afternoons include opportunities to build real, everyday life skills through hands-on experiences. Children prepare simple foods, follow recipes, practice safe kitchen routines, learn basic sewing and mending techniques, and take part in practical tasks that foster independence, confidence, and responsibility.
Independent Social Time
Each day includes space for children to take charge of their learning. They select from peer-led activities, games, creative challenges, and building opportunities—strengthening independence, problem-solving, leadership, and social confidence.
Gaining Confidence & Skills Through Making a Difference
-
As part of our “Making a Difference” curriculum, children participate in community-centered projects that teach them the power of contributing to others. Whether running collection drives, creating care packages, or partnering with local organizations, students learn they can create real impact and gain confidence through purposeful action.
Quiet Work & Reflection
-
The afternoon ends with a calm period for journaling, reading, sketching, or completing ongoing projects. This reflective time encourages self-regulation, independence, and thoughtful closure to the day.
